Getting Started
Setting up Hive Studio is fast and easy with the setup cards below.
Hive Linked
Some PTZOptics cameras come Hive Linked out of the box. If you recently purchased a PTZOptics camera that comes Hive Linked, you don’t need to download the Hive Studio App. All you have to do connect the camera to Hive Studio using a web browser and your PTZOptics camera will be listed as a usable source.

Linking Your Camera to Hive Studio
To link your PTZOptics camera to your Hive Studio, you must first connect the camera to the web user interface. To do this, connect the camera to your network via the camera’s LAN port. To reach the PTZOptics WEB UI login page, open a web browser and enter “https://ptzoptics.local” Enter the username “admin” and the camera's password. Now that you’re logged in, follow the steps below.
1. Link Device: Click the Hive Studio tab found in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Then click, Link Device.
2. Login & Confirm: You will be taken to the Hive Login screen. Use your Hive Login info to log in. You will be prompted by a confirm link window shown here.

3. Select Studio & Confirm Studio: The next pop-up window will provide a list of the studios associated with your Hive Studio account. Click the studio you would like the camera to join and click confirm.
4. Authenticate and Complete: Lastly, enter the login credentials to authorize Hive Studio control of the camera.

Adding a Camera
To add a camera, go to the device tray on the left-hand side of the screen and click the plus sign icon. You will then be brought to the “Add a video source” window.
All available IP-based & USB camera devices will appear in the source list on the left-hand side of the window. Select the camera you wish to add and click “Continue.” This will take you to the “Configuration” window.
Here, you can adjust the protocol, camera name, IP address, and control port. Once you are happy with your settings, click “Continue.”
The final step requires you to select your camera brand and model, allowing the PTZOptics Hive Studio to calibrate your camera. If you are using a camera brand other than PTZOptics, a list of compatible brands can be seen in the drop-down tab.
Once you are done, click “Continue.”
You will be prompted with one final look at the control & advanced settings, which are adjustable from the window below. Once satisfied with your settings, click “Save and Finish.” Your camera has now been added to the PTZOptics Hive Studio.

During the camera setup process select your camera’s make and model from the list. If it appears, a driver has been built specifically for your camera.
Use Generic Drivers if Necessary: If your camera model is not listed, you can still select “Other” in the brand or model section and then choose between HTTP, VISCA OVER IP or ONVIF.
Camera Calibration
Most PTZOptics Cameras come pre-calibrated, however, if prompted you may be reqired to calibrate your camera. Calibration unlocks several key features designed to enhance the functionality and control of your camera within the Hive Studio. These features include:
- Click to Center
- Cine Center
- Cine Frame
- Fast Frame
- Joystick or Zoom Tools Control
How to Calibrate/Recalibrate Your Camera
Depending on the camera model, The process typically takes 5 to 10 minutes. Follow these steps to complete the calibration process.
Steps
1. Accessing Calibration Settings: Navigate to your camera’s advanced settings by clicking the settings icon on the source card or double-clicking the source card and selecting “Calibrate.”
2. Initiating Calibration: Upon accessing the advanced settings, locate and press the “Calibrate” button at the top. A modal will appear with tips and tricks for successful calibration
3. Calibration Process: After starting the calibration, your camera will undergo a routine encompassing pan, tilt, and zoom speed adjustments, focal calibration, and zoom calibration. A progress indicator will display the completion percentage
4. Completion: Once calibration reaches 100%, the settings are automatically saved, and you won’t need to recalibrate unless necessary.
